Of Trains and Welcomes

Hi Everyone,

We made it safely to Vijayawada and Lanka's place. Following a 4:00 AM wake up call and a quick breakfast we left Sam and Becca's at 4:45 for a 45 minute drive to the train station. The station was jammed with people. Thankfully several employees helped with our many suitcases. Train left promptly at 6:10 for the 7 1/2 hour trip to Vijayawada. All started well until we noticed small animals scurrying across the floor (mice), they even appeared between the window panes. (ask martha). Scenery was more enjoyable compared to making this trip by car. Even the monkeys (real ones) sitting on the railroad platform caught our attention. We were welcomed by clapping children and more flowers. The lilies smelled so wonderful. Naps followed lunch of soup, rice and butter chicken. In the evening we drove 45 minutes to an hour to visit our church in the slum area. Had a wonderful time of worship. Each of us shared a personal testimony. Followed by a message from 1st Peter 2:4. After that we fellowshiped around a meal of rice and chicken curry. Returned to Lanka's at 12 midnight.

The smiles look happy, the worship sounds wonderful, and the mice sound . . . awful!

This from marvin, Sorry for not posting more pictures on face book. The reason is I do not have a internet router available here at Lunka's. We will keep trying to find a place , like when in town. Our service last evening were those from the low cast, slum area. God bless them!

Oh MY sounds like a very memorable train trip....and here we thought you were missing out on the interesting drive by vehicle!! Sounds like we missed out :) Marvin ~ the pics on FB are such fun ~ we can "feel" ourselves there by remembering the sounds and the smells, etc!! Major bouts of stomach flu going through the church ~ we spent the evening at Ralphs viewing and more today and tonight!
