Hello all! Sorry for the delay in posting, but the WiFi hasn't been working the past few days. The power blinked a few days ago, and since then it hasn't worked right. I'll try to catch you all up on the past few days.
Saturday we were supposed to have a medical camp, but that got cancelled. Instead we visited the school in the morning. We stepped into every classroom and introduced ourselves. They wanted to know our ages and what classes the children are in. In the afternoon we went shopping. We started out fabric shopping and found some wonderful cotton pieces. We went for supper at a restaurant called King's Cuisine, run by Lanka's sons, Karan and Pratheek. The food was absolutely amazing! More shopping followed; we went to a mall in Vijayawada. The girls wanted to get some Indian dresses, so the ladies went to a different store for that. The Mullets are not avid shoppers- one evening wore us out!
Sunday we went to church, which was held in the function hall at King's Cuisine. The service was like ours are, with singing and preaching. We were asked to sing some songs as a family, and then Dad had a message. Since it was Christmas they had a special breakfast for the congregation. It was a traditional Indian dish, but it wasn't spicy. We put some sugar on it, and it tasted pretty good.
Sunday afternoon we spent time with the children. The boys brought some Frisbees, and those were a big hit. Mom made paper angels with the girls; they had a great time. The Indian girls especially loved Carrie. They claimed her as theirs right away, and they fought over who would get to sit beside her. They would love to keep her here with them forever! We also passed out the gifts we brought along. The children had never had a candy cane before, so they were really excited for those.
Sunday evening was caroling; the older children from the children's home went along. Indian caroling is very different from American caroling. They chose 7 houses to stop at. You arrive, go inside and sing songs. But instead of the visitors bringing a gift, the host has a small snack for the carolers. We started around 9, and didn't get back to Lanka's until 3:45 am! We had a good time though, and experiencing a different culture was fun.

It looks like it was a good weekend! Lots of beautiful fabrics to choose from but I'm sure they don't measure in yards?? I was surprised to hear the children were in school on Saturday and also wondered if they get a Christmas break. It looks like your activities were a hit but could you please bring Carrie back with you!! I hope you all slept in after caroling! It sounds really neat though. I'm curious how homes get picked. Merry Christmas if we don't hear from you before then! Sheri
