Day 1- Dallas

After leaving the church in Sunday we drove and drove and drove. It was rather uneventful as most of us slept for a couple hours on a full stomach. We drove about eight hours, and then stopped in Dickson, TN for the night. After a good hot breakfast  we left the hotel at about 7:00 AM. After stopping for lunch somewhere in Arkansas we continued trucking along. My van (passengers- Ben, Anthony, Kyle, Friedreck, Merle, Wanda, Magnus, and Cameron) had quite a stinky ride, literally, courtesy of Ben. I'm serious- it was pretty awful. We drove through Arkansas, for what seemed like forever, then finally we crossed the state line into Texas. The next thing we knew the speed limit was 75 mph, cause you know, everything is bigger in Texas. We arrived at the hotel about 5:15, where we met Paul. He helped us get settled, and then his wife, Lanie, brought us supper. The chili, topped with cheese and corn chips was delicious after having fast food for the past couple of meals. After the meal we all sat in a circle and introduced ourselves and shared what had inspired us to come to Texas. Hearing everyone's personal reasons for coming was very interesting as everyone had a different ones. Paul also gave us a bit of an itinerary for tomorrow, and told us about what type of things we can expect for the coming week. You can expect a post everyday- hopefully. We'll probably be taking turns writing, so keep checking.

For the youth- Hannah

Glad you made it safely. That's a lot of hours to ride with Ben! I would have loved to hear everyone's reason for going. Our prayer is that each one of you grows spiritually! Have a good 1st day in Texas and soak up that warm weather! Sheri
