First Day with Lanka

Evening prayer meeting with Tribal peoples. Sad thing, the other Christians in the village didn't show up.

Tom found an old friend. The girl worked in Lanka's kitchen for several years. She is done with school and likely will marry soon. She is maybe 16-17. Her mother to the right.
Javan's perspective on today:

We left Sam & Becka's house this morning at 10:30 AM. We had a "short" 4 hour ride. Short because it was on a new 4 lane highway. The trip used to be 7 hours. We arrived at Lanka's compound around 3:00 PM to the traditional welcome with flowers and clapping students. After we were settled we had a delicious meal prepared by Bushi, or Joyce as she is now called. We had a short service with some pastors this evening to encourage them and then attended a short service a few minutes from the compound with some tribal people (low caste). Unfortunately the Christians from other castes didn't come, even though Lanka - a high caste person when he was Hindu (Christians supposedly leave the caste system behind but the traditions still linger at times)- came.

Tune in tomorrow to hear what Leroy has to say!
