The last few days I have been just putting some pictures up but I wanted to go over some of the highlights.
We as a team have all been enjoying the trip very much. We have also all been able to eat the food and so far have not gotten sick. I think this must be because many of you are praying for us.
Sunday night we were able to attend the naming of a new born baby. Over here in India it may go up to a year before the parents name their children. This baby was 21 days old at the time. Lanka told us that they had asked him to name the child but then he gave Tom the privilege of announcing the name at the service. This would have been the first time for the parents to hear the name. Her name is Sheba Grace.
The next day Monday as a very busy day, we started out around 9 for a medical camp. This camp had been pre-advertised for 3 or 4 days via a truck driving around the area with a PA system on the back.
When we arrived there were many people waiting to be examined. Some of them were starting to get a bit anxious as the pushed and shoved to get to the front of the line. We had both an eye examination station and a medical station. I would guess around 500 or so people that were examined. The sad thing about the eye exam is that there weren't really any glasses to be given out so this is a big need that we can pray about. Also 30 or so people were discovered to need the cataract surgery.
Tuesday we stayed around the compound and attended some of the children's classes. That was quite interesting. Most of the classes are in English but still it is difficult to understand.
Today our schedule includes searching for quality building materials, going to a pastor's conference, and in the evening attending a church service.
God is Good!
